More Information

In 1993, the South Central Regional Jail opened its doors to receive inmates for the first time. It was meant to be one of the ten correctional facilities in West Virginia, at it serves Jackson and Kanawha counties. However, it also has inmates from other parts of the state. It is a correctional facility that has a unique design. For instance, the three pods design provide the space for many activities in various disciplines. There are full-time teachers and counseling staffs to ensure that the inmates come than better than they arrived. Looking at the operations at the jail, it is easy to see that they have a strict code of conduct for both the inmates, visitors, and workers.

There is a computerized booking department that ensures that inmates are easily identified. This facility is the only Forensic Evaluation Unit in the state, and has been effective in managing the diverse community of inmates that are serving their jail term there. In addition to that, there is a closed circuit system that uses videos to facilitate communication. This system is mainly used to facilitate the hearing of cases without having to take the offenders to a courtroom. The gymnasium ensures that the inmates remain health and physical fit even as they serve their jail term, and the medical room is constantly manned to make sure that there is security all around the correctional center.

The jail aims at providing the perfect atmosphere for the traditional American family, and that is the reason they ensure that the inmates are kept within the right condition. There are regular events that are meant to teach the inmates about the American values. One of the things that the many counselors who work at the facility do regularly is to ensure that there is constant progress in the learning process by evaluating the performance of every individual. These counselors are professionals who know how to work with people who have social disorders such as the inmates who regularly walk through the gates of the jail to start the term. At the end of the day, they are supposed to be netter people.

A look at the area that the South Central Regional Jail points at the cultural diversity of the inmates that are serving their jail terms at the facility. With such diversity, you can expect to have a lot of interactions and therefore, the inmates will be more aware of the society that they live in when they complete their term. It is the aim of the management at the jail to see everyone learning new skills apart from improving their moral values. There is no doubt that through the constant learning that goes on at the jail, a lot continues to be achieved.
