The gem county jail located at the state of Idaho, county of Gem in the city of Emmet and acts as the main correction in the county. Is a medium security jail under the jurisdiction of Gem County while the sheriffs maintain and operate the entire prison. It has maximum security consist of the security guard, an electronic detector, reinforce fence with razor wire at the top and police guard. Gem jail accepts offender from police and city jail after all paperwork complete, most inmates are charged with a low-level crime like assaults, drink-and-drive.
It houses male inmates above 18 years who are serving under the state laws and also act as temporary facility holding those serving less than one year term, inmates unable to pay bail or to wait for their verdict. Us marshal and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) also imprisoned in Gem jail. The jail also offers and manages alternatives to prison like work furlough, work release program, private county jail and house arrest. The jail publishes names of all inmates present in the facility.
The jail consists of 'pod' which are divided into individual cell and outside common areas spaces is bounded by a towering concrete wall, most used for recreation purpose. Common area has solid steel tables with four chairs attached to each. The cell can only hold two to three inmates consist of a barred door that is closed from outside and has a window made of silver where a prisoner can peer out.
The prison provides essential amenities like three meal a day, education program, bathroom, television facility. The prison also offers Specialized serves and work program to the inmates. Visiting days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday starting from 8 are to 8 pm, all visitors should sign up, have a valid national ID and free from any felony probation. Jail accept money in the form of money order but not in cash, the full name of inmate and ID number should be listed.
