Wasatch county jail is located in Wasatch County Utah. It is a medium security jail designed for inmates that are facing a short period of time. Typically inmates who are serving less than a year sentence. The inmates that are brought to this facility have misdemeanor charges such as drunk driving, brawls, assault with a weapon and petty theft.
Wasatch County dates back to 1859 when the first settlers came in the spring and found it was a short distance and north of Heber City. However it was in 1862 that the territory was legislated and included the Uintas mountain region. The Uintas prison is a maximum prison facility. It was specifically designed for male inmates in a supermax fortress that includes execution chambers.
Wasatch county jail caters to inmates of either gender. It was made to rehabilitate and guide young offenders to a better path. This jail is managed by the local sheriffs at Wasatch County. This is a short term stay facility. The Utah Police bring in the offenders after doing some paper work. This follows by sentencing, acquittal or if they are lucky to be released on bail.
It is a very humane facility that offers meal three times a day and offers educational programs for those inmates who are seeking for a better future. There is also a TV room where the inmates gather and congregate. Inmates who show progress are eligible for a work release program and other programs designed to assist the inmate in choosing a career path.
The correction officers are very proactive in working together with inmates to rehabilitate them on to a better path. These officers are well trained in handling difficult situations from substance abuse, assault to mental health issues. The officers are also trained to protect themselves in the event that an inmate may become irate or violent. In this case a crisis intervention team will be notified and proper action will be made.
