McIntosh County Jail is a correctional institution at the county level. It is located in Ashley, North Dakota and serves as the primary correctional facility for housing inmates in the county. The county jail is used as a correctional facility for those who have been convicted of misdemeanor crimes. Each inmate is usually serving a sentence between six months and one year. The jail runs like most other county jails where there is a staff to oversee the daily operations of the facility as well as the inmates who are housed in it.
The McIntosh County Jail was built in Ashley, North Dakota nearly forty years ago. It was intended to be a correctional facility that housed convicts within a 25 mile radius. During the past few decades, McIntosh County Jail grew in both size and amount of inmates staying in the jail. McIntosh County Jail has remained one of the top correctional institutions in North Dakota in terms of housing inmates and keeping the community safe.
For nearly forty years, McIntosh County Jail has established itself as one of the most dependable correctional facilities in the state. Since it houses inmates at the county level, it usually houses individuals who have been convicted of minor offenses. These offenses include possession of drugs, driving under the influence, assault and batter, domestic violence and vandalism.
McIntosh County Jail operates like most other correctional facilities. It has an administration that manages the facility on a daily basis. There is a warden who supervises the other staff members and the guards. Each staff member has duties such as processing inmates and providing records of inmates and storing their property. The guards are assigned to walk around the jail and make sure that inmates are behaving properly and that the jail is safe. McIntosh County Jail has a number of cells on the sides of each floor along with a hallway. The floors are made out of tile and the building structure is made out of concrete. In terms of its size, the county jail is about 50,000 square feet on a lot of around 100,000 square feet.
