The Butte Silver Bow Detention Center is a county jail that was built in the year 2004. It was built over a span of two years which resulted in its completion by the beginning of the year 2004. Today, the jail facility operates all 365 days per year and has 27 detention officers on duty. There are also 5 civilian staff members as well. In terms of the inmate capacity, the jai can hold up to 72 total inmates. The Butte Silver Bow Detention Center looks to provide an environment that is safe and secure for all of the inmates. This jail looks to provide housing along with adequate care that is compliant with local, state and federal laws.
When it comes to the inmate classification, Butte Silver Bow Detention Center uses a specific system. This system is based on the risk assessment of inmates. In this detention center, the security of both inmates and staff is always increased in accordance of the risk assessments. There are a number of detention officers who complete research on both the personal and criminal history of each inmate. When classifying inmates, Butte Silver Bow Detention Center also evaluates the past and present behavior of the inmate as well as any mental or physical disabilities when looking to determine their housing. Once the classification process is complete, an inmate will be placed in a housing unit that is either minimum or maximum security level.
When taking in and booking inmates, the Butte Silver Bow Detention Center has all adults processed at the intake/booking area. The staff of the detention center uses the most professional standards as well as showing respect for anyone who is currently arrested. All arrested individuals are turned in to the booking officers. Once turned in, the arrestees are then asked questions by the booking officer. After this step is complete, the arrestee is then booked, photographed and fingerprinted at the intake and booking area. They are then allowed to contact family, friends or a bail bondsman to get out of the detention center. Arrestees are also charged a $25 booking fee once taken into the detention center.
Like all other detention centers, the Butte Silver Bow Detention Center allows visitors. All visits at the detention center are arranged by appointment only. Anyone looking to visit the detention center will need to call the number 406-497-1048 to arrange an appointment to visit. There are a number of healthcare services and inmate programs for those who are required to stay at the detention center for an extended period of time. The programs include Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and mental health services. There is also a physician, a registered nurse and a dentist available to treat any inmates along with providing prescription medication.
