Navigating a detention center can be daunting for new arrivals at the facility. However, this guide can help you familiarize yourself with the Benton County Jail in Benton County, Arkansas. The detention center is a maximum security center ranging from low-level offenders to high. To ensure your safety, proceed to the detention center by following the faculty's guidelines and rules.
Visitors
If inmates are expecting visitors, all personnel must abide by the facility's guidelines and rules. Visitors must dress modestly according to the dress code. Tops must completely cover the skin, skirts or dresses must be an appropriate length, and baggy pants are not authorized. The visitors must adhere to the policies as well, such as passing a metal detector test and bring proper identification with them as well. Visitations are limited to fifteen minutes, twice a week per inmate. Visitation occurs electronically and visitors may visit either on-site or remotely. Visitations that occur onsite are Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:00am-10:15am, 12:00pm-1:15pm, and 6:00pm-7:15pm for general population inmates.
Remote visitations are allowed to be scheduled seven days a week, at the cost of the visitor. Visitations occur, Sunday-Monday, between the hours of 8:00am-10:15am, 12:00pm-1:15pm, and 6:00pm-7:15pm.
Inmate Work
The detention center offers inmates with nonviolent charges to work in the Inmate Workforce Division. The workforce assigns male and female inmates to work on various details. Deputy and Detention Officers transport these inmates each day to labor work that helps maintain the cleanliness of the county and detention center or assist with county events and maintenance. The workforce saves Benton County a tremendous amount of taxpayer money by utilizing free inmate labor and reduce sentence time. Benton County Jail maintains professional standards for all faculty members and inmates for quality living. Inmates are given three meals a day and have access to phones for contacting family members and friends. Inmates can spend one hour a day for exercise, and access to books as well. History
Learn Benton County Jail's history, as it began housing inmates in April of 1999. The jail itself is a 100,355 square-foot structure. The total cost for building the facility was $16.8 million. To determine the best design for the jail, Former Sheriff Andy Lee, architects, and consultants toured a total of eight jails in Wyoming and Colorado. The result became a dynamic supervised facility, with a dormitory housing unit and barracks for work release inmates.
