More Information
The Big Horn County Detention Center is located at the northern end of Basin, Wisconsin, and it opened its doors in 2001. The building is a medium security facility where most of the inmates detained are either stationed there while waiting for their turn to be placed on trial or are held for a personalized sentence of one year or less on account of committing crimes such as minor theft and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Assault and fighting are also misdemeanors which can result in the convicted person or persons, most commonly youths, to be “locked up” for the duration of an adequate sentence, until acquisition, or until they are bailed out.
The inmates receive three well-balanced scheduled meals per day at Big Horn County Detention Center and through the Midway Clinic the detention center guarantees each inmate on-site nurse and physician visits.
Detainees at Big Horn County Detention Center are also treated to (limited) telephone access and visitation rights, as well as entertainment in the form of books provided to them through the detention center, mail, and any magazines or newspapers sent to said detainees through the mail. On top of the entertainment opportunities listed above, the inmates are allowed daily exercise to promote fitness and top notch mental and physical well being, and, of course, are provided with showering facilities.
The official Big Horn County Detainment Center website provides additional data related to the detention center: for example, it includes contact information, information for the family members and friends of the inmates on the topics of visitation etiquette and hours, how to send mail to an inmate, what is appropriate to send through the mail to an inmate and what is not, and how to send money to an inmate. The website also offers advice to the family members and friends of the inmates on topics such as why to avoid complying if an inmate asks to be sent extra or increasing funds or if an inmate asks for funds to be sent to a different inmate, because this type of behavior from an inmate is often an indicator of dangerous or inappropriate behavior within the detention center.
