Colville Corrections Detention center is a center that houses adults inmates. The center has a philosophical message to help with inmates transition back into society. The center is on a Native American Reservation of Coville. The tribes that are on the land are Chelan. Nez Perce, Colville, Eniat, Lakes, Methow, Moses-Columbia, Nespelem, Okanogan, Palus, San Poil, and the Wenatchi. These tribes make up the twelve bands that are on this land.
Coville Corrections Detention Center is on under the US Bureau of Indian Affairs, BIA. The act keeps prisoners away from tribes and communities. The inmates are put in the detention center safely and secure.
Around the 1800s, the original jail was in Pinkney City. There was a meeting among commissioners that moved everything to Coville. On January 7, 1884, the offices, court, and jail were all moved to Coville.
In 2007, Colville was on a list of jails with suicide prevention policies. They monitor the inmates who were at ricks. Trained professionals would be on watch and be there to help the inmates. Colville Correction Detention Center also provides rehabilitative treatments. Treatments for prisoners are drug and alcohol, sex offender, domestic violence, and religious counseling. It is a peace and the therapeutic nature the correction center wants to provide the inmates.
Visitations are allowed at the center. Visitors who live further away from the facility would need an ID to visit. Visits with the inmates are around twenty minutes, depending on the officer. Every visit is supervised by an officer. Inmates are also allowed certain items such as a picture. After the visit, any items left are discarded that are against policy.
