More Information

The Chehalis Tribal Jail is one of many rehabilitation establishments founded by the Chehalis Tribe in Washington. These rehabilitation centers were thought up as a way to provide a significant amount of alternative rehabilitation systems for many in the area. The jail was founded in Grays Harbor County to provide a large service area to help a considerable amount of inmates. As an alternative approach to rehabilitation, the Chehalis Tribal Jail has always focused on ensuring that those who stay in jail have the best chance possible to become productive members of their community.

However, the vast majority of the work has been with other tribal communities; with that in mind, the Chehalis Tribal Jail has developed partnerships with over a dozen different agencies in the state of Washington. The majority of these are tribal agencies who aim to improve relations between those inside and outside these tribal communities. The work that these tribal agencies do alongside the Chehalis Tribal Jail continued with the development of the Chehalis Tribal Offender Re-Entry Program. These are a set of guiding principals, as well as practices, that help inmates lead more productive lives outside of the rehabilitation center. With this in mind, the center has always provided inmates with the likes of productive lives inside the facility.

This includes promoting healthy lifestyles for everyone in the facility. Furthermore, the staff at the facility help to promote positive developments in each of the inmates they work with. Throughout the Chehalis Tribal Jail's history, they've always relied on utilizing a certain amount of key staff. On top of the Jail Administrator and Assistant Jail Administrator, this includes the likes of two Sergeant Corrections Officers and eight Line Correction Officers.  Two further Corrections Officers also serve as EMTs; on top o this, there is also a variety of support staff to help with the best needs of the inmates. Throughout the Jail's history, administrators and staff have always allowed contact between inmates and their families. This is because, with the support of families and friends while in the facility, inmates will be in the best position possible to become productive members of society; in many cases, this may not be possible without the help of friends and family, especially once the inmate has left the facility.

Even though the Chehalis Tribal Jail is an alternative to more traditional forms of rehabilitation, there are still a variety of rules and procedures that inmates must adhere to. This includes restrictions on visiting times, which is why staff at the facility have always worked with families to ensure that visits are only made within the appropriate times. The majority of this is so inmates will be able to concentrate on becoming productive members of society with the many activities they have during the day while learning new skills.
