More Information
Tooele County Jail is located at 47 S. Main St. in Tooele, Utah. The correctional facility houses both male and female inmates serving both short and long-term sentences. With its security levels which range from minimum to maximum security, the jail is extremely strict with its rules.
The detention center is very observant of the visitation rules, which the visitors must adhere to. Friends, relatives, or any other visitor is required to contact the facility to have their visitation approved. Visitors must also have an updated government ID, and a legal guardian must accompany anyone below 16years. The visitors to the jail must also observe a particular dressing code, which includes covering themselves from head to kneecaps.
On a related note, the facility does not allow an intoxicated visitor. It is also essential to know that visiting hours are based on housing, so it is good to determine which housing unit the inmate is placed in as you plan the visit.
Fortunately, if you live far away from the facility such that you cannot afford an on-site visit, Tooele County Jail has other communication arrangements. This involves remote video visit using platforms such as Skype or FaceTime. They will save you that flight expense or the long drive.
However, registration with the iWebVisit website (iwebvisit.com) is a must-have alongside an internet connection, speakers and a webcam for the video. The jail bans any form of undressing in front of the webcam as well as other illegal activities. But note, remote visits are scheduled up to three weeks in advance, and they come at the cost of $10 per visit. The first visit of each month costs $12. One more condition is that the inmate must accept the visit; otherwise, the jail has the right to cancel it.
The jail allows gifts for inmates, packages such as hygiene products, shoes, food or clothes. This is the only way to express love to an inmate. The prison authorities may not provide all the amount of amenities that the prisoners may require, things like toothbrushes or female hygienics. As such, the jail has availed an inmate commissary, which is more of a store for other essential goods/services. Inmates can buy food and drinks and other amenities for those serving long-term sentences.
