More Information
There is a small police station in Little Falls, MN that takes its inmates to a bigger facility in Morrison County. This bigger facility houses all the smaller county inmates in the same place. This medium correctional facility is used for short-term inmates who need sentencing or a trial date. It has the capacity to house inmates immediately upon their arrest. Due to its limited space and size, no visitations are allowed. Even though it is a medium security facility, security is heavy because the police department houses their center of operations in this location.
The jail offers the inmates an assortment of helpful programs. There are various faith based programs, and GED classes. Inmates have available to them Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous, and Crystal Meth Anonymous programs. Teen challenge groups are held for the teen population and parenting classes are offered for those in need. Yoga classes are held on a monthly basis.
In 1890 contracts were signed to build a new structure and the new building was completed in 1891. The courthouse was originally made of wood and after being moved twice, its building materials were changed to granite and brick. The county jail was condemned by the State in 1931 and a new design was decided on for the building of a new jail. In the spring of 1991, the 60 plus year old building was torn down to make a parking lot. The new government building now houses the jail, sheriff’s office, courtrooms as well as other government offices.
