HISTORY OF WARREN CITY JAIL
Warren city jail started its service in 1894, is located in Michigan states, Macomib County and Warren city. The jail is medium correctional facility and operates under the Michigan police department. The department operates and maintains the prison. It acts as short-term or temporary facilities that hold new prisoner, those who are serving less than one year term, those waiting for their sentence or those unable to pay bail. Inmates range from low-level crimes offences like the drunk and drive to violent crime like rape,murder.
The jail has maximum and heavy security because the police department maintains all the operation. The prisoner is escorted while they are shackled (restrain) and hands are handcuff.It holds both genders but they are kept in separate areas depending on the crime they have committed. The prison has different housing block facilities like commissary, kitchens, cells, mental health and medical. The Cell consists of brick walls, with a barred door that is locked from outside and can hold 2-3 inmates.
They publish names of all inmates in the facilities in Michigan police website. The prisoners are given three meals per day, essential amenities like bathroom and one hour for recreation like reading, showering. Inmates are allowed to use cell phones to communicate to only the approved members from 7 am to 8.30pm.The maximum minutes to call is 30; the cost is on the receiver.
A prisoner is allowed to receive money from their relatives through cash or electronic banking because it is easy for the department to keep track and records. The essential requirements to send money are; inmates full names,Id number and inmate location.
Visiting days are from Monday to Sunday at 8am-9pm except on Saturday, Sunday and federal holiday that ends at 3 pm. A visitor is required to follow the rules such as no cell phone is allowed, to have a national ID for identification. A person under probation should have permission from their supervisor to be allowed to visit. Visitor under the age of 18 is accompanied by their guardian and relatives of the inmates.
