More Information
This Detention Center is a medium-security center which takes new detainees each day. The surrounding towns use this facility for holding inmates because they have no facility in there town. Those who are detained will receive a bed and three meals for as long as they are there.
This location is for those who cannot make bail or who are waiting to make a court appearance. Most inmates will be serving less than a year's time. The US Marshall’s Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement will also use this location when necessary. People who are arrested for drunken behavior, fighting or are mentally ill are also delivered to this location. This can sometimes create a challenge for facility staff.
Alternatives are offered on how to replace the serving of an inmate’s jail time. These alternatives include work release, house arrest and work furlough. Overcrowding is a problem and the jail has a good behavior program. A sentence can be reduced for an inmate’s good behavior.
The building provides a common area, an outdoor recreation area and cells for the inmates. All meals are dietitian approved. There is a commissary on site which gives the inmates opportunity to buy various products. They may purchase snacks, clothing and shoes. Items such as shampoo, soap and shavers are also available for purchase. The selling of paper, envelopes and stamps allow inmates to write to friends and family and if the inmate has no funds for at least 30 days, the facility will provide the writing material and postage to them.
