Also, the low-security jail holds inmates who are awaiting sentencing, and those who are serving a jail term of fewer than 12 months. The correctional facility transfers inmates scheduled for a long sentence to the appropriate federal or state prisons.
Many inmates held in Morgan Jail are sentenced for misdemeanor offenses like disorderly conduct, first-time possession of prohibited drugs, reckless driving, trespass, and repeat nuisance offenses. Suspects, and inmates sentenced for minor crimes qualify for cash bails or bonds.
Morgan Jail shares an office block with Morgan Police Department. The city jail has a large common area where inmates watch television, eat their meals, relax, as well as play games with their colleagues.
