History of Stevens County Jail
Stevens County, Kansas is named after Republican Abolitionist Thaddeus Stevens (born April 4, 1792 and died August 11, 1868), who fought for African-American freedom before the Civil War. The county was established in 1885. Stevens County is located in Southwest Kansas about 25 miles west of the Colorado border and 12 miles north of the Oklahoma border. The Stevens County Jail is nearby other government buildings, such as the library.

Once you reach Hugoton, you should take Main Street south. When you reach 5th street, take a left heading east to reach the jail. The distance is about 13 miles.
From Liberal, Kansas
In order to reach the Stevens County Jail - Hugoton, Kansas from Liberal, Kansas you should take US Interstate 54 heading west. Turn right onto South Western Avenue. Then turn left onto Road 3. Turn right onto Road C. Then turn left onto Road 4, so you are heading west. The Road 4 name will change to Road D. When it reaches Road 12, you take a right going north. Continue north until you reach 11th street. Travel about 6 blocks and turn left, going north on Main Street. When you reach 5th street, turn right and the jail is right there. The distance is about 35 miles.
