More Information
This short-term facility holds inmates awaiting trial and sentencing. The jail is run by the local police department. This medium security jail allows no-contact visitation. Minors are allowed when accompanied by an adult family member or guardian. Inmates arrive daily on misdemeanor charges. Charges include drunken behavior, drug influenced behavior and assaults. Due to the community not having a separate facility for the mentally ill, the police department places them here to give them the assistance that is needed.
Persons are kept here for a day or two or released on their own recognance waiting for their court date. Once arrested the offender are screened by a medical professional.
The jail is designed in a pod format. There are two levels. Inmates spend many hours in their cells, but they are allowed out for a few hours during the day to this pod area. The pod areas allow them to play board games, eat and watch television.
There is a commissary and a library on the premises. These areas along with the recreation area are under the constant supervision of guards.
The inmates have access to commissary one day a week. For those inmates who have a job while in jail, their paychecks can be deposited in their commissary account. If inmates have no funds in their commissary account for 30 days or more, the jail will provide envelopes, paper and stamps to the inmate. This allows them to keep in contact with their loved ones. Books and magazines can be sent to inmates by family through Amazon.com.
