More Information
Greene County Jail is a correctional institution that is currently located in Eutaw, Alabama. It serves as the primary correctional facility in the area and has been one of the more reliable locations for housing inmates. Greene County Jail has served as one of Alabama’s most valuable correctional institutions. While it is located in a remote rural area, it has provided the county and the surrounding cities with a convenient place to incarcerate local criminal offenders who have been convicted and sentenced to jail time.
The Greene County Jail was built forty years ago in an effort to expand the amount of correctional facilities in Alabama. Greene County jail was intended to help provide the local community with a facility that can house inmates in the immediate area. Over the last four decades, Greene County jail has remained as one of the most dependable correctional facilities in the state. It has evolved over the years to become a modern correctional facility. Today, the jail has expanded to house more inmates, introduce more modern programs for both staff and inmates and it has also updated its infrastructure and surveillance technology.
This particular correctional facility is structured like many other county level jails. It is a minimum security correctional facility. This means that it houses inmates who have been found guilty of misdemeanor offenses. All of the inmates at this facility are serving a sentence of no more than one year. The inmates are often processed to begin their sentence and then released once they have completed the amount of time that they are required to be in the institution.
Greene County jail operates like most other county jails. It has an administration that sets the policies as well as oversees the staff of the facility. The administration keeps records, addresses concerns of inmates and staff and also organizes programs for inmates such as recess, education and employment training. There is also a staff of workers who process inmates who are coming into the jail and releasing ones who have completed their sentence. The jail also has correctional officers who are responsible for guarding the jail and keeping it secure.
The inmates of the jail live like all other county jail inmates. They are required to be in their cell until further notice. When they are released from their jail cell, they are often allowed to eat meals, participate in recreational activities, shower and talk to visitors either by phone or in person. All of the inmates are closely monitored by the correctional officers and the administration as well.
